Our project, Bound Odyssey, is about the concept of death and its inevitability. Our main character, Phe, has been running from an inferno that consumes the world in a global wall of fire yearly. She has been running from this fire for her entire life, achieving a scar on her hand during her childhood on a farm. Her only companion during these grim times is her faithful horse, Hope. Through this journey, she tries everything in order to survive and make it to her end goal, a large mountain near the remains of a burned down river village. However, once she gets to the river village days before the fire is supposed to occur/get to her position, everything goes completely south. We plan to have scenes of her scarred hand, which represents the passage of time, in the short animation at both the beginning and the end of the animation. This allows the audience to understand how long she has been running from this global fire that occurred in her childhood and still burns in the present. We also plan to have a scene where she must leave Hope in order to survive, which is symbolic for losing all hope. Through this, we want to create a melancholic yet epic atmosphere for our audience, which is of course High School Students. We take reference from things like the animation The Longest Road and Koda, mixing and matching themes and art style/topics that could work well within our setting.
